Do you ever get HnH? (High and Horny)

Are you into PnP? (Party and Play)

Work Hard / Play Hard is a research project that gives voice to gay and bisexual men who engage or have sex while high, using drugs of any kind. A lot of focus has been on ‘slamming’ – but this research is about a far broader sets of practices.  These are known by several different names including:

Chemsex – Chillouts – Kikis – PnP – chem sessions – Partying – Orgies – Sex Parties

Unlike other studies, this research does not focus on health issues, but on the cultures, identities, spaces and politics that surround this practice. The research offers a non-judgemental and confidential space for gay and bisexual men to discuss their experiences, and to comment on some of the media coverage and public discussion that has accompanied the rise of this practice.

The researcher, Sharif Mowlabocus, is organising 1-2-1 interviews in London, Brighton and via Skype. If you would like to take part, and meet the participant criteria please click on the links below to apply to join the study.

IMPORTANT NOTE: If you have ever been enrolled in an addiction recovery or associated harm reduction programme then unfortunately you are not eligible to take part in this research.
