Research should always be carried out in a way that is ethical.
This research project has been given ethical clearance by the University of Sussex.
The ethics application reference is: ER/SJM23/6
This means that, if you join this study, you can be assured that anything you say in an interview, along with any information you provide, will be treated in a secure and confidential way.
In particular, this project abides by the following rules of conduct:
- No person shall be identifiable in any publication and all names and identifying information will be kept private.
- An information sheet containing details of the research will be made available to all participants.
- All participants must sign a consent form prior to the interview beginning.
- Participants will be allowed to withdraw from the project up to 6 weeks after the date of their interview and have their data discounted from the study.
- All relevant project information related to participants will be stored on a secure password-protected hard drive that is not connected to the Internet.
- Only the researcher will have access to personal information and this information will not be shared with anyone else.
- Any physical material produced (drawings, timelines etc) will be securely destroyed using the UoS confidential document shredding system 6 months after the end of the project. Digital audio recordings will be erased and written over 6 months after the interview. Consent forms will be securely destroyed using the UoS confidential document shredding system 6 weeks after the interview.
