Hello and welcome to the project site for “Happy Ever After”, a research project exploring the married lives of men in same-sex partnerships.
Whether it be Elton John and David Furnish tying the knot or Tom Daley and Lance Black on their honeymoon, same-sex marriage and civil partnerships have become increasingly visible in the UK over the last ten years.
But what does same-sex marriage look like? What does it mean to be married to a same-sex partner? What does a same-sex wedding look like? And how does it feel to be married to someone of the same gender?
This research focuses on men who are married to, or are in a civil partnership with, another man. The research explores married / ‘partnered’ life – from the initial decision to get ‘hitched’, through to the special day and then on to everyday life as a “legally-recognised” couple. The following information is designed to help you decide whether you would like to participate in this research, and what to expect.
